Things I love: Casio Digital Watches

My Casio watch collection~

Every day I wear a watch. While most people I see nowadays are using smartwatches as a way to use their phones less, others for health reasons like checking heart rates, or maybe to keep up with 'modern' technology.

Unfortunately, these smartwatches will have a limited life span due to being reliant on modern up-to-date software and not having replaceable batteries. Meanwhile, A Casio digital watch from the 80s-90s will still work the same as the day it was bought.

Casio F-91W (black)

I always preferred these time keepers with the Casio F-91W being my first digital watch. One of the most sold watches in the world. It's an every day dependable time keeper that costs around 20USD, available in fun colors, and can withstand daily use.

I still use a F-91w in rotation with my other Casio digital watches including:

Casio CA-53W ("Calculator Watch")

My CA-53W. I like how simple this model is while being highly complex with the built in calculator which has come in handy, and being a cool discussion piece.

Casio LG-20W ("World Time")

LF-20W. My new favorite casual watch and the probably the most 'femme' looking in my collection. Outside of the beautiful watch face with the analog clock, I can also track the time in several of the cities on the watch including New York, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Rio de Janeiro. A good chunk of my bluesky mutuals are close to these areas, so it's nice to see their time zones with the click of a few buttons.

G-Shock (GMD-S5600)

Last, my G-Shock S5600 in Black+Gold. The toughest watch in my collection, while being the smallest G-Shock available right now. It's just a regular time keeper while being an extremely rugged watch in my favorite color combination. The moment I saw it I wanted one and went as far as to import one from Japan.

Compared to a typical smartwatch, I like the different unique designs Casio has for all their watches and their features including:

A majority of the watches in my collection go for less than 30USD a piece, with my most expensive being the G-Shock for 100USD (after importing from Japan.)

The only other watch I am considering in my rotation is an analog Casio to wear with fancy outfits for certain occasions. But a majority of the time I find any of my digital watches work best for a majority of my uses and compliment my outfits.

Compared to other hobbies, I found my Casio collecting hobby to be pretty affordable. Unlike other hobbies, it's one I can keep up as I am always wearing a watch and rotating between them. More importantly, as long as I take care of these watches, they will likely last a lifetime of use.
