It's okay to get rid of your boxes.

The first set of boxes to go.
For the longest time, I held onto a lot of my boxes for collectibles and electronics. I always had space available to hold onto them, and if I ever wanted to sell something, I HAD to hold onto the box to keep it's full value.
I held onto this feeling for the longest time, since I was a teenager all the way to my 30s. I held onto a majority of my boxes including:
- Game consoles
- Gaming peripherals
- Figurines
- Electronics
- Phones
For a few years I moved out of my parents house and moved into a house with two roommates, with myself getting the smallest bedroom in the house. 3/4ths of my bedroom was taken up by a bed, and my bedroom closet was taken up by empty retail boxes stacked to the ceiling.
Since moving back in with my parents and living with my wife, I have lost a bit of space due to her having a lot of stuff. She had to get rid of a lot of stuff before moving in with me, and every few months we are downsizing our stuff to make more room for the new things we love.
More importantly, we hope to get our own home one day and the last thing we want to do is dedicate space for empty retail boxes. So, at this end of this year we decided to (mostly) recycle our retail boxes.

I could probably sell some boxes, but this is the easiest option for me to finally tear off the band-aid and get rid of them once and for all.
It's hard with the back of my mind saying "but the value!" but I have learned overtime to find joy in the things that I love. Having a bunch of boxes around and having my living space feel like a warehouse/retail store isn't one of them.
It's not for everyone, but If you can... Get rid of your boxes. You won't miss them.
